Where's the water? This lighthouse was built on the coast (like any good lighthouse should be) in 1897. A few years later a jetty was built nearby for some good reason (sorry, but it has been a few months since I visited!) and unfortunately it also caused silt and sand to pile up and build up and deposit on the shore, and then plants to grow there, and then trees and forests...So now the lighthouse is thousands of feet from shore with a forest of pines between it and the ocean!
