Christmas Morning

Trey saw Santa Claus three times this year (I think he was following us!), and told him all three times that he wanted a bike for Christmas. Yes, our poor child had been deprived up until this point. He was so excited to see this tricycle waiting for him and so proud to ride it. He put his bear on the bucket in back and practiced riding around all day long. And the next day, and the next day.... He hasn't ridden it much outside, yet, but maybe the rain will go away long enough for us to try?

OK, so the lighting is awful and he looks like a ghost here, but I had to include this pic of him playing with his lincoln logs for Grandma and Grandpa. He loves them! Notice the unopened gifts under the tree. We were on Trey's time, and this is the way he did it: 1) open a gift, 2)be thrilled to own it, 3) play with it immediately, 4) keep playing with it and be fully content even though he knows there are lots of other gifts waiting for him, 5)eventually be persuaded to open another present, 6)cycle continues. Although it made for a long morning and Aaron and I were wanting to speed it up a bit, it also made us happy to see him act like this. We much prefer it to the open a gift, give it a glance and a second's worth of excitement, and be ready to open the next gift. We know he will not always be like this, so we'll enjoy it while we can. The truth is, we never even got around to opening his last gift, which was the big t-h-o-m-a-s-t-h-e-t-r-a-i-n set. It was sitting under the tree so long, and once we finally convinced him to open it, he barely ripped into the paper and then decided to go play with his new toys again. He didn't even see the box it was in, and later he asked who it was for. So into the closet it went, where it will come back out in 3 months for his third birthday. I was so excited for him to have it, but he got so many great gifts already; why overload?

The glove from Auntie Hannah--look at that smile!

Audrey's first Christmas. She slept through everything.

No pictures of me, but I caught one of Aaron sporting his new BYU hat and placing the new decals on his guitar case--thanks everyone that helped me collect those!

That's great that you let Trey choose how he wanted to open his presents, and it even allowed you to save that awesome train set to make for a great display on his birthday! Audrey is so darling!

Trey sure is easy to please. I've stashed a few Christmas presents away to pull out as birthday presents every year. :) Glad you had a fun Christmas!
